Cause the salad days are over and the meat is at my door/Cause they might try to tell you how you can live your life/ But don’t,/ don’t forget it’s your right, /to do whatever you like,/ you like/ Cause you could be your own spotlight. . . ” -Patrick Stump-
We have some serious art and design coming in these days. Will Holman has made a chair from a shopping cart. (My niece and nephew stopped in and gave it the baby seal of approval.) Chris Davenport (who will be at the DCAF) is making jewelry from shrinky dinks, Bonnie Applebeet is felting soap…
The store is working on reupholstry. I have so many cats and kittens who are all about being their own spotlight! 🙂
I would like to thank my new spotlight, Jessica (Conrad) Cordes. She is hard at work editing her photos she took of our herbs that we planted today to start selling here at the store. Grace wants to help the urban gardener!!! The plantie poos (check out our Simon and Garfunkle mix) will be available Saturday at DCAF along with our compost. If you don’t know what DCAF stands for it’s the Druid City Arts Festival. You can check it out at, http://www.druidcityartsfest.com. Keep your fingers crossed for little to no rain! (cause I don’t understand why i sleep all day. . .)
Friday March 25th you can catch Ally Nevarez MFA Thesis Show at the Alabama Art Kitchen
And the lovely Men and Woman of the Pink Box Burlesque Show at the Bama Theater. $12 tickets at the door! Pink Box Burlesque [pinkboxburlesque.com].
We had a great day here at the store getting things ready for the weekend. Monica stopped in with great bags from India that now have dill in them. Clever Gretel stopped in to get her display ready for Saturday and Business Bear will be here tomorrow for her finishing touches on her items for DCAF. So much fun in the air!
It’s going to be a live one this weekend in t-town folks! we’ve got mfa shows, half naked shows (with jokes!) DCAF with Matthew Mayfield headlining the music acts, wild weather for sure is in the forecast! With so much to look forward to, “oh nostalgia- I don’t need you anymore!”
Photos to soon follow!
Hugs and kisses!
